Benni Kakert

COUNCIL+ X VRB Gallery, Berlin (curation Tim Rosenbaum)

AN OVERSIZED TAR-COATED BUNK BED ACCOMPANIED BY 60 TAR-SOAKED PETS IS THE CENTERPIECE OF THE EXHIBITION. KAKERT SITUATES HIS VISITORS IN AN OVERSTATED YET SOBER SPACIAL ENVIRONMENT TAKING PLACE IN THE HEAD OF A CHILD IN ITS ROOM SOMEWHEN IN THE YEAR 1998. THE END OF A LIGHT-HEARTED TIME, FEELING CONSCIOUSLY SMALL WITH A SENSITIVE AND MATURE EMOTIONAL PERCEPTION. FEELING LONELY WITH A DESIRE FOR SECURITY. A SATURATED SOCIETAL IDEA OF SUPPORTIVE PARENTHOOD.
